Woohoo!
We have had a mind-blowing whirlwind tour the last few days... From Poe Valley to Woolrich & back again.
Thank you to everyone who came to our National Trails Day presentation, and huge thanks to Woolrich for providing the space, technology, and kind folks who helped get the technology working. Good work!
We loved a cushy night at the lodge and feel truly blessed to have had that experience. It could not have happened without our shuttlers Sonny Daze, Joe, and Lorraine - we so appreciate you three and all you've done for us and for trails.
We broke 1400 miles today... 2 weeks left or thereabouts. Camping near Sand Mtn firetower with our new friend Tony. We're thrilled to have company!

Rattler
Do you see the rattlesnake ? I did after strolling right past it. Thing is I'm looking for them just not good at it, could be my downfall. I now wonder how many I pass over or by unnoticed.HillBillyBart

Kindness
Well, it is 1AM and instead of sleeping so we're well-rested for a long day tomorrow in Woolrich, Bart and I are up late reminiscing.
We have been so lucky to meet great people along our hike. We have been thinking back to Sticky Buns & her husband Steve who were our trail angels in Three Springs recently. We feel blessed to have been taken under their wing for a night - delicious food and delicious rest. We are sure that their hiker book will soon fill up.
When we look back, the kindness of strangers and mere acquaintances is the most profound impression in our mental collage of hiking memories.

Pre-Stone Mountain
After a dream breakfast of blueberry pancakes with Pat and Jim, we went on a hike... Imagine that. But we had company! Nice to learn more about the trail from those who know it best. After a couple miles, Kenny treated us to donuts and ice cold hibiscus tea... Wow!

Garthes
Huge thanks to the President and First Lady of the Standing Stone Trail for inviting us into their home even though we were drenched. Smoked pork, salad, and all the fixins... A couple of cold beers and a cool view. Thanks for the great stories!

1,000 Steps craziness
The 1,000 steps was the heaviest traveled attraction we have seen on the trail. We sat and ate lunch before our ascent up and the people just kept coming and coming it never stopped. I can see why this was a hot spot or must do climb for anyone. We will finish our trek through SST tomorrow and have enjoyed every step. Thank you SST volunteers! HillBillyBart & SomedayJo

1,000 Steps
I think I'll come back next Memorial Day and sell Slinkys at the bottom of the Standing Stones 1,000 steps. HillBillyBart & SomedayJo
Hairdo
The Gas Line Barbers sure know how to give the mountains a reverse mohawk. Thinking about gettin one myself because I'm already full of gas and to be more like the mountains. HillBillyBart

perfect morning
The sun is getting high on us as we anticipate pizza for lunch before ascending the famous 1,000 steps of Standing Stone. So much to look forward to today in PA! HillBillyBart
